Parish Church Of St Margaret, Ockley, Surrey
While it remained dry and bright, a rare thing these days, I went to Ockley after work and had a look round the church there. This view is looking to the NW. The tower was built in 1699 while most of the S wall is 14th Century. The rest of the church dates from 1873 when it was heavily restored and almost rebuilt. Despite this, there is plenty to see inside and there are some good stained glass windows along with numerous memorial tablets on the walls. The interior had also received a good clean and you could smell disinfectant and cleaning materials, so it all looked very clean and well cared for. Well worth a visit, it is usually open in daylight hours and there is a guide that encourages you to have a good look round and spot things of interest.
