Preening Swans
We walked along the canal tow path into town and along the way we met first one swan (pictured), then three more and three more until we reached the bridge where there were around 12 swans and cygnets all preening themselves in the mild sun on the banks. A girl and her mother were feeding them and the pidgins also got involved tussling over each slice that was tossed into the water.
Each swan looked majestically beautiful; each feather on each wing perfectly aligned for form and agility, their necks twisting each way as their beaks pruned and fluffed their chests. A hypnotic and wonderful sight.
Once in town we walked through St Stephens green and saw a vivid hued double rainbow over the city, it was so bright the colours didn't seem real.
We ate late lunch at Market Bar then trudged home in the driving rain to watch Harry Potter and drink cocktails!
