Smokey sausage and bean casserole

This is a recipe I have been meaning to try for the past few days but kept running out if time as it needed almost an hour to simmer. Fingers crossed the burnt part was left cemented firmly to the bottom of the pan and didn't end up in our bowls!
As the first day of my holiday I enjoyed doing nothing at all until later in the day when I popped into town to grab cousin Jon's birthday present before I fly home tomorrow.
Today I am grateful for vacation time.
