History

It may be my job as a teacher of Sports Science, or it may be the legacy of London 2012. It may simply be that I am unashamedly patriotic and am therefore hugely proud of any athlete in any sport who competes for Team GB.

Before this weekend I had no idea about Slopestyle.

I am now familiar with such terms as rail riding, front grabs, rear grabs, npan, and frontside and rearside 180, 360, 540 and 720; and switchback. And not forgetting the switch 900......

I reckon I could commentate on snowboarding Slopestyle.....

And the name Jenny Jones will forever be recorded in British sporting history.

Jenny today became the first British athlete to win an Olympic medal on snow.

The skills of these athletes are incredibly. And Jenny is officially one of the best.

Her bronze medal means that for the rest of her life she can say with pride, "I won the first British medal on snow at a Winter Olympics."

Jenny, this is your moment in history. Enjoy it, it is yours to keep.
