Twizel to Te Anau
Left Twizel at 9.45 after being disappointed at being told we were wrong in pronouncing the place 'Twizzle'. (Twy-zel is apparently correct) We planned four hours for the journey to Te Anau but were instructed by local police to get off the road at Queenstown for around an hour to allow a cycle tour to pass. Once in Te Anau we checked into the YHA Hostel (Jodie is now firmly in charge of budgets) and made our journey across Lake Te Anau to the caves to check out the local glowworms. Amazing creatures. Not only do they majestically glow for 9 months as a larvae but when they metamorphasise into a fly they die 24 hours later! Is it worth it?
Anyway, early start as we are driving to Milford leaving at 6AM to avoid the morning coachloads....
