Prefabs
Prefabs were built during WW2. They were small, cosy and - despite some real drawbacks - they were loved by their owners. As a boy (in the 1940's), I regularly visited some old ladies who had prefabs: they loved them.
Though most prefabs were demolished some time back, there remained a corner with half a dozen or so close to us. But recently they must have been condemned and they are all boarded up. Most had huts; and some like the hut here could still be used though others have been plundered for the wood in them. TV arials and a SKY dish remain. Nearby, a clothes 'whirlygig' still with bright plastic clothespegs has been pulled out the ground, but because it is anchored in an enormous concrete block, it is still on the site.
Till very recently these prefabs were still inhabited. It seems a shame to see them in this state now. I just hope the residents have been rehoused in accommodation that at least matches what they have had to leave.
