Beaucette Dolphin
We celebrated a friend's birthday today by going out for breakfast at the Boathouse on a pier in St Peter Port....a great start to a lovely Sunday...delicious food!
During the day while out blip hunting we passed by Beaucette Marina and, were amazed to see a mini traffic jam of people looking down into the marina.
The object of their interest was a young dolphin which was found washed up last week on a nearby sandy beach, basically overcome by the atrocious weather.
Kind people and the RSPCA quickly recovered the dolphin and moved him/her to the sheltered marina where she was set loose to recover.
Fortunately the marina is home to many fish and so the dolphin has a ready supply of food and seems to be thriving, with no interest in braving the open sea for the time being.
We joined the watchers and were delighted to see the dolphin lazily cruising about the marina among the moored yachts...a very happy ending to what could have been a very sad event.
Hope it all goes well and he or she decides to regain the open sea when fully recovered!
