Come on Nature

Next Proclaimers song. It's a song of young love and a man's yearning. So all day I looked for young couples to take a picture of. Where are they all? I fear for the birth rate in East Lothian. So here's a slightly older couple who, judging by the two kids running around them, have already had at least two brushes with 'nature'.

Big lie in today (nothing to do with book group last night which was a remarkably sober affair, more to do with having had my seasonal and swine flu jabs yesterday). Realised I'd forgotten yesterday to post a link to this odd sight in Edinburgh.

Two trips to North Berwick - firstly for Katherine's drama club while I had a wander to the beach with Conor - very high tide with bigger waves than I've ever seen down there. Second trip was for the fireworks. Pretty good display but rubbish for photos as you watch it from a very well lit area, and my big tripod is in France, so I'm stuck with the 18 inch high mini one - which isn't quite what you need in a crowd. So I figured I might as well put the star filter on for some fun effects. It was still on when I spotted this blurry couple on the beach (had you noticed? I think the effect is wonderfully subtle...)

You can hear the song here. The only version I could find was this delightful video someone has made of the flowers in their garden and house, set to the Proclaimers song. I hope they listened to the lyrics first....

Come on nature

Come on nature, I don't want to read a book or talk about the world
Come on nature, I just want to spend some time being boy to the girl
Come on nature, let me show the way that I've been feeling all along
Come on nature, just because I don't feel weak don't mean I feel so strong

I've been known to ask a few more favours than I should of you
And in time I'm sure I'll still want things that you could never do
If she wasn't mine, if I was stepping out of line,
But she's mine and I'm in line and she's the best I've ever seen

Come on nature, let me show the way that I've been feeling all along
Dark brown hair, green eyes and white skin
You perfect every colour that she's in

Come on nature, I don't want to read a book or talk about the world
Come on nature, I just want to spend some time being boy to the girl
Her and me, I could be complete if you could let it be
My desire, is to stretch myself inside her body's fire
If I stumbled in then I could say that I had been to the
chamber where your greatest work of art was on display.
