Anarchy

So after travelling back to Warwick in the morning, and having the usual Shakespeare lecture, our later seminar was a little...interesting.

So we are reading two plays for this week by Middleton, A Chaste Maid in Cheapside and Women Beware Women.

On this board is where our class forgot about Play and Playing, and decided instead to draw what happened in the final scene of Women Beware Women as we were not sure who had died, and who killed who. So the deathlist goes as follows, and this all happens during the play-within-a-play put on for the pleasure of the Duke :-
- Isabella kills Livia with poisonous smoke from the stage as Livia hangs suspended from the ceiling
- Livia kills Isabella by dropping red hot gold coins on top of her while she kills her with the smoke
- Guardino falls through a trapdoor for no apparent reason
- Hippolito is killed in two ways, first he is shot by an arrow fired by one of the cupids and then he is stabbed by a Guard
- The Duke accidentally drinks from a poisoned chalice
- Bianca then knowingly drinks from the same chalice, knowing it is poisoned
- The Cardinal survives

You can thank Richard and I for this wonderful, artistic, and lovingly rendered tableaux of the entire final scene of Women Beware Women.

The rest of my day was pretty standard, a very telling chat with Tom after the seminar.
