Little Grebe
The Little Grebe or 'Dabchick'
Tachybaptus ruficollis
It has quite an attitude and a preposterously fluffy rear end. But they are pretty good divers and quite common in and around the River Thames.
I was back at the London Wetland Centre again today. A patch of sun in between gales and showers brought me out as well as the birds. Saw a Brambling on the bird feeders amongst the Chaffinches, but it was just too shy and the bushes too dark to get any more than a vaguely identifiable photograph. So you got the Grebe.
