That's My Peanut

Gray Jay, aka Camp Robber. About the same size as a Stellar's Jay, maybe a teensy bit smaller. Hubby put the kiddie pool over the bird bath to protect the seed from the snow. The feeder just wasn't 'cutting' it. Nice variety of birds at the 'feeder' today. The two mentioned above, plus: Song Sparrows, Oregon Junco's, dove, towhees, some little brown bird I haven't looked up yet, varied thrush, the male was quite protective of the seed under the kiddie pool. He would chase other birds away from it, then when his mate came in he would come out from under the cover and 'herd' her under it. Quite amusing to watch. Then he would 'stand guard' while she ate. Eventually many of the smaller birds became braver and came under the pool to eat. I the birds went through 25 lbs. of food plus peanuts and some bread in just 5 days. I'm posting this on 2-11. Time for a trip to the feed store.
