Signs on Pine
The day was semi-dreary. (70F, but overcast and very windy.) After by beach walk... I went off in search of color.
Pine Street on Anna Maria Island has a lot of stores that compete for the tourist dollar. In competing for that dollar...they want something that is going to draw your eye to their place of business...something that is going to bring you in. HEY...HOW ABOUT A SIGN WITH A LITTLE SPLASH...A LITTLE PIZAZZ...A LITTLE WE-GOT-YA.
Color everywhere, and...I had to leave out another 7 or 8 signs.
2 things I want to point out. Although it's not a sign...I loved the WH EGRET license plate in the middle, and...about the photo in the lower right...
It was from a photographer named Clyde Butcher, pretty famous from my later Google search.
The price? Maybe you better be sitting down. The price? $130,000.00 (That's one hundred and thirty thousand dollars.) Wow...yowsers...and gee whiz. A beautiful shot...but $130,000?
I ended up at my brothers house for supper. One of our "cousins" from Michigan was also eating with us. She invited me to stay for euchre night. A 50 cent buy-in. (I thought I could afford that.) 22 "older" people. 5 tables, with 2 people sitting out. Fun.
I'd like to report that I went home with the jackpot...but...I just didn't get the cards.
