A Scottish First 2014

No poetry today, I chose this Mark Rothco image though because it's called the omen and according to the dictionary an omen is the sign of good things to come.

Well I think we just got our sign and today is a day of happiness that we've been recognised for all of our hard work over the last twenty years.

It's true you're never a prophet in your own land but it's lovely when someone else thinks that what you do is a bit special-so thanks to UNESCO and the European Commission-for making a group of adult learners very happy.

We're going to be hosting the first ever Scottish EC conference on adult learning-that's quite something.

So when I got home tonight and the homework was Greek philosophy I was particularly taken with a quote from Socrates that still rings true today.

"Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.”

So let's get to it and light some fires.
