Britchie

Tomorrow came and logs were stacked. (See yesterday's blip.) I have a sore back and a feeling of considerable satisfaction.

I have become quite fond of chaffinches. They are called different things in different parts of the country. In the south-west they have been called britches.

They chirp away as we walk. And they have regional accents. Science puts it down to some genetic defect sometime back then.

I like to think there is a more romantic explanation for these regional differences. Something about the different chaffinch accents being a response to the voices and the environment around them.

Science is probably right.
