The Watch Tower
The church of St Peter in Peterhead was mentioned as early as 1218 but is now ruinous. This is the bell tower which was erected in 1647.
Back in the 19th century the surrounding graveyard was popular with grave robbers in search of fresh corpses for sale to the anatomists at Aberdeen University. At that time the tower was used as a look out by armed men who were guarding the cemetery and its newly dead.
