Nice weather for swans
After cooking up some yummy spicy bean burgers at Dumfries Northwest and delivering a parcel, I didn't feel like going straight home. I decided instead to go to Caerlaverock WWT (great weather for waterfowl..). It was wonderful to watch the swan feed at 2 o'clock from the new Peter Scott hide. About 130 Whooper swans come to be fed. They arrive in the autumn from Iceland and overwinter here. Peter Scott discovered that the swans can be identified by the pattern on their beaks. The ranger pointed out a couple of swans called Renfrew and Paisley, who have been visiting Caerlaverock for 10 years, this year they have 4 cygnets. Here is a picture of Renfrew's beak and his leg ring
