Meet Daphne

This is Daphne Odora Auremarginata. I wish I could include the scent of this tiny flower which is fantastic. I have been a garden designer for over 13 years and this a shrub which I use over and over in client's gardens. It is so well behaved, grows slowly over time into a rounded shape, and provides evergreen foliage edged with just a tiny margin of yellow on the leaf (hence aureomarginata). The winter flowering shrubs are some of THE best for scent, since they have to work hard to attract the pollinators. If you are looking a shrub to plant close to the house to enjoy the winter scent, this is my top tip.
