Art... for art's sake?

I went to see the Robert Colquhoun exhibition at The Dick Institute in Kilmarnock today.
It's very close to home for me. More here in a feature I wrote for The Herald a few weeks ago.
I'm talking about the exhibition on The Culture Studio with Janice Forsyth on BBC Radio Scotland on Monday so thought I should get myself along.
Cue; dragging heels of daughter all the way to sunny Killie...
I spent many many lunch hours in The Dick when I was over the road at Kilmarnock Academy.
It felt very familiar to be in the building.
This sign is on one if the doors into the gallery space at the back. Never noticed it during the long days of my callow youth.
