The Holetown Festival
Last full day of our shortish break in Barbados and I have to say it has been great. I'm not sure what we expected, but it has been better than we hoped it would be and if we get another chance to come here I expect we'll jump at it.
This week is the week of the Holetown festival and today was the day of parades and market stalls selling food, drink, clothes, art, trinkets, budgies, tropical fish, toys, jewellery, pottery etc
The parades included local schools with the kids all dressed up and dancing, the scouts, vintage cars, local beauty queens and marching bands. The main road through Holetown was shut off for hours while all this went on. We had breakfast, bought a couple of things from the stalls and watched the various parades.
The vintage cars bit included MGs, Porsches, WWII US jeeps, tractors, minis, various US cars and this two-tone, convertible Bentley.
In the afternoon we visited a wildlife park and I took lots of pictures, particularly of green monkeys, but in the end decided to blip this photo of the Bentley from this morning's parade.
