View over the River Wey at Godalming
Having had lunch at the nursery at Milford nearby, we went for a look and walk around Godalming. This view was taken just off the road to the main town car park looking across the flooded River Wey. The area of meadow is known as the Lammas Lands. Fortunately it has never been built on which is just as well. On the far side of the meadow below the hill is Chalk Road (There is a branch of Jewsons along here) and on the hill above is a cemetery and many houses with fine views across to the town. The main railway to Portsmouth is on the very far left. With all the rain, the river was fast flowing. It was so much better today than what we have had recently, but still too wet to go far out into the countryside at the moment.
