Stornoway Harbour
Today was one of those days when all those days of rain and wind are erased from your mind. Life goes from HP5 to Velvia. This taken from the Castle Grounds which was full of families walking prams, push chairs, bikes and dogs. Sun induced smiles all round. We were their with grandson and dog. Grandson burbling along in the pram getting rosy cheeks. Dog desperate to say hello to everyone, but restrained - 55kg of friendly dog is not something you want bounding up to your toddler. Had to take him for some quality off lead time on the beach later.
The harbour itself was quiet - the Sabbath is keenly observed and the fishing fleet or what is left of it, is moored ready for tomorrow. In the distance is the Arnish Fabrication Yard. Strangely when I was working in the subsea construction industry (in Norway of all places) part of the structure we were to be installing was being built in that shed. I had never been to Stornoway at the time and little did I know that I would be living there 15 years later. Now the shed builds the towers for offshore wind turbines.
