On the move: TLC, Tonlé Sap, Cambodia

Our local partner, the Lake Clinic, otherwise known as TLC, is a primary healthcare service which is taken by boat to floating villages on the vast Tonlé Sap Lake to the north-west of Cambodia.


This photo shows the clinic moving to a new location as the The Tonlé Sap is shrinking! In some areas of the lake the water level will be less than half a meter very shortly. Adaptation is key and the team move from village to village as the waters level change.

The people who live and work on the Lake and its tributaries are among the poorest and most vulnerable in the country. The nearest healthcare available to them can be several days' journey by boat to reach. Unsurprisingly, disease and needless disability are rife.
