More southern California coastline

From October to March you can see gray whales migrating some 12,000 miles from Alaska down to Baja California. One interesting trip we recently made was to Santa Cruz Island of the northern Channel Islands (in the horizon you can see the southernmost island of Catalina, the only inhabited island). Ten miles offshore the ocean floor descends into a deep-sea trench, and suddenly, dolphins (sometimes hundreds) are a common sight, frolicking in the wake of the catamaran, while whale pods follow the trench going south. But even onshore it's not uncommon to see sea lions lying on the more remote areas of coastline. And instead of turtles coming onshore to lay eggs, California has grunion, small sardine-like fish, who wait for the near-full moon and high tides to spawn from March to September.
