Narrow Gauge Railway Near Pit Disaster
If you walk through the woods behind us and along a disused railway track, you eventually come out near the site of a coal mine which is now closed. On July 2nd 1937 an explosion ripped through the mine taking the lives of 30 miners. The area is now made up of nature trails and a heritage centre. There is a narrow gauge railway in use which was previously used at the mine for transporting men and coal. This is one of the signals.
