Shoot thy neighbour - Take 1

This idylic scene is in the garden of Inchgarvie house. My street is the last one on th eroad down to Hopetoun House and the drive that this was shot on is less than a minutes walk from th elast house in the street. When I was about 13 or 14 it was all owned by one old woman who used to pay one of my friends to cut the vast expanse of lawn. He asked me and another friend once if we'd help him out with it. The rates of pay were pretty good (by 13 year old standards in the mid to late 80's anyway) so we went up to see what was involved. It was only when we got there that we found out the grass was about three feet high and the only means of cutting it was a scythe.

Anyway th eplace has been converted into flats now, and it looks like they would be rather plush. The only downside, and the main reason I went down there for a shot today is that the point where I took this shot (which is here) Looks like it is set to be the point where a new Forth Road Bridge will meet the land on the South side of the forth. Well that's if the picture on the front of Friday's Edinburgh Evening News is anything to go by. From the look of it it will take a straight line right through the middle of this picture. Apparently a lot of locals are outraged that a new bridge has been chosen instead of a tunnel but I think it will make the area look even more dramatic and of course the vast array of blippertunities during the building of it will be great for me. The thing is, if you look closely at the gap on the right hand side of the central tree you can see the existing Forth Road Bridge, you'd have thought it would make sense to build it further down th eForth but there you go.

Other than heading down there today we went into town and met up with Chloe's folks for a swim at Leith Waterworld. We also met my mum who was up for the weekend from Lincolnshire with a friend of hers. After the swim we all headed to th eWetherspoons at the Foot of the walk for a Sunday lunch. Damn tasty and so much easier than cooking it. after that we got home and listened to Valley FM for a bit. A fairly lazy Sunday all in all.
