Noisy neighbours!

This is the growing colony of Artic Terns that are about 3/4 of a mile from our house. Which as there are only 2 houses between us and them I guess make them neighbours. They are beautiful birds, fairly small, elegant, streamlined shape, striking colours. In short just about perfect. Except for two things... they make an incredible noise when there are a lot of them. And they dive bomb you if you are near their nest site.

It has been a beautiful day. Bad for sunburning though. High sun and a chill wind mean that you don't realise that you've burnt your nose (again) until you get home. Campbell and I actually went out looking for the seals. Some of which have pups at the moment. But the tide was really low and they were way too far out for us to see properly. However we had a great walk out to the point where I took pictures and Campbell waved a stick above our heads to keep the terns at bay.

These neighbours may be noisy and I'm quite glad they don't live right next door, but we are very, very, lucky to have them within a short walk. If you pass by I'll point you in the right direction to see them. But only after a long chat about blipping, a cuppa and some scones...!
