Spot the birdie
I know I have blipped this tree a few times before, but I keep going back -- it's just irresistible, especially in the early evening sunlight. And when you live in a small village and work from home it's difficult not to repeat subjects.
Anyhow, there is a difference here: there's a bird perched at the top of the tree. It's a very small bird -- you'll have to go large and possibly use a magnifying glass to spot it. There was a flock of them flying around from tree to tree, twittering madly -- you could be forgiven for thinking it's spring. In large, you'll also see the village clocktower peeping up at bottom left.
We enjoyed Philomena. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the film was mostly about the relationship between Martin Sixsmith and Philomena -- both beautifully acted by Steve Coogan and Judi Dench respectively -- and was both touching and occasionally funny. I have to say that by the end my attitude to what the nuns had done was closer to Martin's than to Philomena's! However badly the nuns treated their young charges in the 1950s, the way a later generation of nuns did everything they could to obstruct the search of a mother for her son was just as sickening.
