Alva Glen - Upper Falls
The attraction of Alva Glen over some of the other Hillfoots Glens is the variety and number of cascades and falls which the Alva burn takes on its descent from the Ochils. I have blipped some of these before and today's blip adds to the collection. This is the first big drop near the head of the narrowest part of the glen. Surprisingly, above this the burn flows gently and is quite shallow , before it is channelled by the metal weir towards the drop.
Although I find Dollar Glen more dramatic, the joy of Alva is that the path hugs the side of the burn most of the way giving clear views of the cascades.
