Banana Bread day

Today I have cooked my first loaf of banana bread. The product in all its imperfections is displayed as today's blip. Avid readers will note an aborted attempt to do the same a week or so ago but I did not have the equipment. Then I was helpfully told that today is Banana Bread day so what better way to start my baking career. Will taste it and report back.

UPDATE: 12.45 pm. I have now tasted it extensively and my son has also had three slices too. Over half of the loaf gone. It's not bad. I may have to do it again tomorrow and Monday and .......

Some info below on this fine day.

Banana bread first started to become popular back in the 1930′s, during the Great Depression. Cultural historians suggest that resourceful and creative housewives of the era created the recipe as a way of not wasting over-ripe bananas. In fact, the riper the bananas, the better the taste of the banana bread, so it ended up being a very clever creation! It is traditionally known as a “quick bread”, but is actually more like a cake in both texture and flavour.
