Van Morrison: where it all began

I'm back in my home town of Belfast for the weekend and thought I'd share this little piece of local history.

Just about a mile from the house where I was brought up in the east of the city is 125 Hyndford Street. This was the childhood home of the singer and musician Van Morrison and the place where he wrote some of his early hits and practised with his first band "Them". I don't know who lives there now and Van left Belfast many years ago as his career began to take off. In the photo you can see a little brass plaque to the right of the front door. It was put there some years ago by the Belfast Blues Appreciation Society and basically says Van Morrison lived here.
