Vardo Harbour

This morning we arrived at Kirkenes at 9am and went straight out on a trip to the Snow hotel. It was very interesting but I think that I would find it rather claustrophobic to stay there. It was amazing though, a new hotel is built every year in 4 weeks from the end of November to the end of December and it stays open until it starts to melt in April! Every room is different and has carving in the snow on the walls and there are ice sculptures down the corridors and as headboards!
We also saw reindeer and dog sleds there, some of our party went on the sledge rides instead of going round the Snow hotel.
Late in the afternoon we berthed at Vardo for an hour and some brave souls swam in the sea. I didn't even consider it!!
We saw the Aurora borealis again last night, it was magical and I got some better shots this time!
