Stormy weather turbines.

Been thinking about getting a pic of these for a while. They sit just behind some houses on the east side of town. Today the rain stopped long enough, the man stopped the car and the guy in his garden was happy enough to let me get a shot in.

Thanks also for the comments yesterday, all feeling much better today.

For those of you who'd never come across the term "lum"; it is indeed a reference to a chimney. The Scots saying "lang may your lum reek", translates literally as "may your chimney burn for a long time". However, it is really the Scottish equivalent of the better known phrase "live long and prosper".

Another popular saying was "it's gone up the lum in smoke". While the literal translation is obvious, it this comment was often used to convey the idea of shattered hopes and dreams.

Santa also used to come down the lum and not the chimney. Guess he's going to have to adapt to deal with solar panels, fast moving wind turbines and condensing boilers. Rather him than me!
