Giant Meccano!

First day back after Half Term today. The work on the new teaching block has progressed well. Concrete pads as they are called were prepared and the uprights are being bolted on. The individual steel components are being assembled together with the use of a big Liebherr Crane and two men operating hydraulic platforms. This view shows a steel beam being eased into position by the crane and the men to be bolted together.

It was remarkably spring-like today and we saw a very chirpy Robin in the tree outside the prep room. However, he was in competition with the Lesser Spotted Reversing Bird which I could hear all day as these hydraulic platforms spend all day bleeping when in use!!
