What a pleasure to see the honey bees out collecting pollen today.
At least one of the hives was collecting pollen, the first time I have seen them this year.

The temperature needs to go above 10 degrees Celsius and not too much wind or rain for the bees to venture out.

When you look at the trees and the vegetation and the lack of any growth of seemingly any kind in the photo you would be forgiven for wondering where the bees might be getting pollen from.

At this time of year it is probably from the hazel or willow catkins.

The chickens also laid their first egg of the year and I had it fried with some smoked bacon in a bap made at the Mill in Talgarth with white and rye flour. The egg yolk was a deep rich dark yellow colour.

One of life's wonders although something for the weekend and not everyday ;-)

The Mill is place to visit for freshly made bread with flour ground by the water mill as well as cakes and coffee. Highly recommended.
