Feb 25th 2009 - The Chocolate Factory
There was a big storm during the night with thunder and lightning and so we woke to no hot water or electricity. It is Tina’s birthday and the dining area had been kitted out with balloons and we could hear birthday songs from our cabin as we woke. There was another birthday song for breakfast over breakfast which had a nice happy melody which I tried to join in with.
During the morning we made jewellery, I ‘crafted’ a ring for my little finger (although it was practically finished before it was given to me). We then had some Spanish lessons before lunch where the highlight was definitely another Danish birthday song with pretend instruments just like the ‘Music Man’.
The afternoon was spent relaxing before we began the Chocolate Factory! We were given alcohol to start (always good) before we had a lovely afternoon barbequing the beans, removing the shells, grinding them up (where I break part of the table in the vice) and cooking them into dark and milk chocolate. Rachel, Katchi and I especially enjoyed the chocolate (spoons, pans, sword fighting and all).
Camilla and I spent the time before tea chatting, which was nice as she is really easy to talk to, before some amazing food! I must have eaten half a pig as I ate everyone’s pork and pork fat. I spoke to Nadia, Trés and Karoline about running and then finished tea off with birthday cake. Chloe and I spent most of the evening together – dancing in the blackout, going for a walk and chilling by the pool. It was a really nice end to a really relaxing day.
