Utility

Days passing
The stem slowly droops
Turning the gaudy gazania
Into a colourful mop head
Ready to sweep the floor
With its smooth, waxy petals
And capture the dust
In the hairy web
Of its protective case.
Beauty transformed into utility.

I don't often think about housework so this little revelation was unexpected and amusing. I was spoilt for choice with drooping, dying flowers today but opted for this one because of the great textures and colours and the curves of the petals.
