#27 Zaht
DDW February Challenge #27 Zaht
Today's word means soft. In the western part of England, folks were known as Zedlanders for using the letter z instead of s as an initial consonant, so many of the z words listed were similar to their s counterpart.
As for zaht, I started thinking about swan down and wondered about this zaht feathery fiber being used for spinning; I found a forum link to a woman who combined it with mountain goat wool with great success: Spinning with swan down.
These yuly volatils were busy socializing in a water-slain field outside of town. There were over a hundred in the farm yard, all crowded into the water-shaken lowland, trumpeting loudly. I was able to get several pictures, some close up of them with wings outstretched, feeding, or grooming themselves. They weren't bothered by me, probably due to their sheer numbers. When I come across two or three and walk up to them, they usually obambulate quickly in the opposite direction, but not these guys. They were too engaged in eating, drinking, and being merry.
