North Baljaffray Pond

I took a walk up to my local pond today to see what was doing, but there was no sign of bird life at all. However, there were beautiful reflections of the blue sky and clouds on the still surface as the wind had at last dropped. Soon the foliage all around will largely obscure the pond from view. So this little oasis in suburbia is today's blip. The Manse Burn flows through the pond keeping it refreshed.

It was near here three decades ago that local palaeontologist Stan Wood discovered the 330 million year old perfectly preserved remains of the 'Bearsden Shark' . It was eventually identified as a new species of fish - akmonistion zangerli which swam here when this part of the world was a tropical sea! There should be a plaque! I photographed the reproduction shark in perspex on 6th March last year if you want to read more!
