Tree Diamonds
Looking out of our (east-facing) bedroom window this morning, we were greeted by a remarkable sight.
It had been raining, but the clouds had cleared and the sun was shining brightly.
This tree outside the window was covered in a myriad of hanging raindrops that were catching and reflecting the sun, so that the whole tree appeared to sparkle and to be covered in diamonds.
The tree is a "wild plum" and is, in any case, at present covered with much lovely white blossom (the resulting plums are not much good!).
NB About the word Myriad
I used it here in the usual sense of "a countless or extremely great number of people or things", but it derives from the Ancient Greek μυριάδες, myriades), which is technically the number ten thousand.
