Herbert Ponting, Antarctic Photographer

The Baird Museum in Cumnock, Ayrshire has a special exhibition of the Antarctic Photographs of Herbert Ponting on display until May. Ponting travelled with Scott on his ill-fated 1911/12 expedition and the photos on display date from that journey.

As my interests include both photography and Antarctica, this exhibition was too good to miss, despite the 100-mile round trip to Cumnock and back.

This particular photo is of Ponting himself - I thought that posting a picture of one of his photos would perhaps be a step too far!
