Crater chaos

On arriving back in Rio last night, we found a traffic jam near our entrance, with buses blocking the next intersection and then turning off into our road. Today our handyman (and handy source of gossip and tragic tales) told us that a water main had burst and a huge crater had opened in the major cross street. Ah well, at least it wasn’t the cover of a manhole blowing off – not this time. Today, a concert of horns told us that the situation hadn’t changed much, so at the end of an otherwise uneventful day, we set out in search of a blip. However, I hadn’t done my homework and wasn’t sure where the crater was , so seeing a large patch of fresh asphalt in the first block, and cars going through the gaps in the cones (buses were still turning off), I thought it must have been filled in already. Which is why all I got was a blurry snap of a disgruntled traffic cop on our corner.
