Nuts!
I've taken well over a thousand photos today. Bar two or three, everyone was covered in mud.
This is the , appropriately named, Nuts Challenge. Even my dogs were cleaner than the participants on their return home although they had no choice but to wade around the course. Oh, they did get a bath as soon as they got in the door!
Held just south of Dorking, a couple of ex paratroopers, decided to invent the UK's longest assault course. Each lap is 7 km and there are over a hundred obstacles, all of which include a healthy dose of mud or mucky water. Slipping, sliding, climbing and crawling, over a thousand people took part today. It's not cheap to enter but the money is well spent on staffing the event. I was more than impressed by the security and safety measures that were put in place. By the end of the day there were a few that were too cold to go on or had been taken away by the numerous medical staff, to treat sprains and bruises.
There is more on the menu but, today was the charity day. It goes without saying that even one lap is not for the faint hearted and masses of money will have been raised for causes. The really tough guys will run tomorrow. I have the sneaking feeling I might just have go back!
