Lake edge at Pearson
Lake Pearson is one of my favourite high country lakes. It's nestled at the foot of Purple Mountain, rising steeply on the right, is an interesting shape and I marvel at it's many moods. It also has fish in it and today we left them all there.
An increasing nor'west marked today. That made for less than ideal conditions at Grassmere so we shifted on to the top end of Pearson. We stalked 3 brown trout on their feeding beat in and out of the mouth of a wee stream. Always good fun.
As we left Cass there were spots of rain and up towards Arthurs Pass the weather looked bleak. It was a toss up between a moody black and white along the rail line at Cass versus this sunny shot of the saddle from Pearson and Grassmere Station, leading through to Lake Hawdon and Craigieburn Station on the other side of Purple Mountain.
I miss my high country and mountains, but I'm pleased to have been there or there abouts on my crutches this weekend.
