To Show off
I have for many years grown Erythromiums. The commonly given name "Dog's tooth violet" is rather prosaic for one of the most gracious of spring and early summer flowers, but it is better than the less well known description of erythroniums as "Adder's tongue"
They come in all shapes and sizes but this low growing compact pink variety is the first of all. Later in the spring I will show you yellow and white varieties.
It is a woodland bulb and they like dappled shade. That is not to say they don't relish an early bit of spring sunlight.
It was warm enough for the bees to be flying but I did not see any pollination going on whilst I was taking this picture.
