Cloud Piercer
Today's the day ...................... to fly away
We left New Zealand today - on St David's Day.
It was officially the first day of autumn here - just as it was the first day of spring back home. There was definitely a nip in the air too when we woke up in Christchurch but blue skies all round. We could see a smattering of snow on the high mountains too which had appeared overnight.
It all made for perfect viewing from the plane as it circled round across to the west coast - and then away across the Tasman Sea. This is Mount Cook with Lake Pukaki behind it - taken from the opposite direction to this one here.
We couldn't quite believe that our trip was all over and we were leaving. It really has been a wonderful experience. We have loved New Zealand - its scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna - and of course, its people - from the moment we set foot here.
We plan to return ...........................
