Waiheke Island
Backblip......Auckland reaching to the sky???
We've had a big day.....took "the bird" (Nissan Bluebird, our ageing rental) around the Island. Alice is a top navigator, we managed all sorts of roads, there was a moment that the option was doing a one way the wrong way, just a slight blemish :)
Much bigger island than I had imagined, the area we travelled through was much like this and the weather like this too....windy, showery then sunshine and warmth.....and all over again. We had many stops for photography along the way, seeing magnificent views out into the Hauraki Gulf with there many islands and inland to the wineries.
This shot show everything....the weather, the rugged coastline, the vineyards (they have the nets over them at the moment) .
To see the vineyard
We stopped in a stunning bay at the Man O War winery ....lovely platter of all the usual cheeses, and other yummy things, accompanied by a glass of their wine sitting outside under umbrellas. Alice and I tried to play Finska ( Finnish Game kinda like skittles) on the lawn, entertaining other diners. We weren't terribly successful.
Lots of photos there, the beach, the jetty, the high and dry row boat and a fabulous old wooden church.....along with some selfies!!??
We're back at our studio now, in a while we're off to Mudbrick Winery for dinner.
Oh, and almost forgot this morning we visited Emma Hughes, she was a speaker at our national convention in 2008. Her and husband Garth made us very welcome, she has got an amazing new studio for her photography. She is a wedding photographer of some note and has won many awards here and internationally.
