cludgey

This is the biggest potty I've ever seen in my life. A massive throne for which young Master Arlo's bottom will probably avoid for at least another year, but shall nevertheless be forced onto from time to time.

I have no idea why I picked this particular potty - I suppose I thought it would be fun - we shall just have to see. I am pretty confident it's a bit soon for him to be trying it out, but it's always good to guage things, I suppose.

Had a lovely afternoon with Arlo today - I took him up to Perth Leisure Pool for a bit of non swimming (in actual fact, the adjective would be 'clinging to mummy and looking terrified') as he's spending the weekend at my mum's. That pool opened up when I was in 2nd year - I think I was 13 or 14 and it was due to open in the summer holidays. We were all beyond excited, the only pool Perth had before that had been a crappy training pool with a diving board, so it was the biggest thing to happen to us, well EVER!!

Then in the last week of school before the holidays, I fell down a concrete slope and ripped my knee open and had to get about 30 stitches inside and out, thus rendering myself COMPLETELY out of the new swimming pool loop. That summer, my teenage friends spent every day in that pool - making new friends, bombing down the flumes, having the most fun anybody in Perth had ever had and I spent the whole summer upstairs in the spectator gallery eating chips and drinking coke watching it all from my lofty seats next to the parents, weirdo's and perverts (not all the same person, you understand).

Sigh. The swimming pool of broken dreams!

Anyway - I've not set foot in there for over 15 years and it hasn't changed a BIT! I walked in, the smell hit me and all of a sudden the memory of the last underage pool disco I'd gone to came flooding back - the one where they'd decided you couldn't go into the pool in shorts & t-shirts (even though you could at the one before) and all I had on underneath was my underwear (and all my friends had their swimmies on) and so I had to leave the party before I even got in there and whilst my back was turned, my friend snogged the boy I fancied.

The swimming pool of broken dreams indeed!

After swimming we went to my Mum's where I got Arlo settled and then I hop, skipped and jumped back to the Burgh to begin my baby free weekend!

We are going to a proper club tomorrow night to do proper dancing with our friends. We are going to meet up somewhere before hand and have some drinks and we're going to be excited and then we're going to go and dance in a sweaty sweatbox of a club to music that makes you grin from ear to ear and then we're going to talk crap to people we don't know and then we're going to be sad that it's over and then we're going to hang around outside and figure out who's house to go back to and then we'll go wherever it is and do more drinking and maybe more dancing and then we will do the walk of shame home and it will be ACE!

Ah. I do love revisiting the olden days. Little toe dips into the past (wouldn't want to go the whole way though!)

Happy weekend my lovely Blippers.
