Algae Research Plant

The weather was horrible in Hamburg on Wednesday, but nevertheless I participated on a study tour to an algae research pilot plant. The green panels in the picture are reactors, where a liquid containing algae reacts with flue gas of a power plant absorbing the CO2 and multiplying the amount of algae. The harvested algae might be used as a bio fuel. The reaction requires sunlight, so I guess it was not working very well on this stormy day.
