Ash Wednesday

Matthew 6:16-18
“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.


Been a busy and interesting day today. I wanted to go to mass at some point but my local parish didn't seem to be doing a mass for ash Wednesday. So I went to my old parish St Austins. Its been nearly 6 years since I last went to St Austins. Was a lovely service and very well attended. It worked out quite well as the mass was at lunchtime. Thomas did say that they had ashes in school which is good. I always remember the importance of Ash Wednesday from primary school. Its one of the key fast and abstinence days which stays with me. Mikey went on a visit to a Buddhist Centre today so missed out but he had a good day and got to experience other cultures.
