Christmas shopping

In Roujan, the next village, Christmas shopping means buying foie gras and confit de canard (duck cooked and preserved in its own fat) at the Foire au Gras. This translates into English as the less attractive-sounding 'Fat Fair'. For me, there were disappointingly few real food stalls - although the ones that were there were selling delicious duck, cheeses, sausages, tapenades and wine - and too many craft stalls. But we bought some nice food and wine to save for Christmas. I'll be writing more about these on my Olives and Artichokes blog later on today probably.

The fair is held in the salle polyvalente, the village hall and sports hall, and I thought the modern architectural lines above the stalls were interesting.
